Accelerating digital banking readiness

SEDANIA Innovator Berhad (Sedania) announced that Nisa Ismail, chief executive officer of its Fintech subsidiary Sedania As Salam Capital Sdn Bhd (Sedania As Salam), was bestowed with the Distinguished Entrepreneur Lifetime Achievement award at the gala dinner and awards presentation ceremony of the World Digital Economy and Technology Summit 2022.

The ceremony recognised the outstanding achievements of influential individuals within the digital and technology sectors.

Nisa was one of the enterprising individuals conferred with this special award by the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Melaka Tun Mohd Ali Rustam.

“It is truly an honour to be presented with this accolade, especially as I have always been a vocal advocate of digital transformation and its thriving role in driving business and economic growth.

“The 2022 World Digital Economy and Technology Summit’s theme of creating opportunities, endless possibilities is also something that I strongly resonate with and thus, I am committed towards leading the Sedania As Salam team in accelerating the digital banking-readiness of financial institutions,” said Nisa.

Her notable milestones for Sedania As Salam ranged from expanding the company’s client base from 42 to 70 clients within nine months, increasing the number of Tawarruq transactions by 18% in 2019, rationalising the cost of key products, which culminated with an overall cost reduction of 40% and achieving 10-15% approval rate for personal financing since January 2020.

Before leading Sedania As Salam, Nisa was already carving out a strong reputation within the fintech space through her role as Head of Marketing and Regional Partnerships for BankBazaar Malaysia.

Her accomplishments included signing six banks with over 40 products made accessible on the live, successfully achieving a 35% approval rate for products of which most were premium financial products and being instrumental in creating interactive branded digital content about financial lifestyle subjects in collaboration with key media partners.

Sedania managing director and founder Datuk Azrin Mohd Noor said: “The recognition accorded to Nisa is a remarkable milestone for Sedania as a whole and truly showcases the company’s brand name in an even brighter light.

“The evolution of Sedania As Salam under Nisa’s leadership accurately personifies our mission to improve lives sustainably, as the As-Sidq platform has continuously incorporated technological improvements which simultaneously fulfilled the needs of our financial institutions clientele and enhanced the public’s access to financing.”

With a client base of over 80 financial services institutions, Sedania As Salam is primed to accelerate digital banking adoption in Malaysia.

The company is presently a technology partner for two established companies which form part of Malaysia’s digital banking consortium, namely Aeon Credit Service (M) Berhad, as well as another client which offers a shariah-compliant personal financing product to platform users of its super app using Sedania As Salam’s GoHalal Financing programme (GHP).

The GHP was launched by Nisa in 2021, with Grab and JCL Credit among the prominent partners under the programme which aims to provide more convenient and secure access to financing for the Malaysian community.

The one-of-its-kind GHP has key shariah-compliant features such as Shariah Advisory Services by Afsha Shariah Advisory and As-Sidq Digital Trading Platform using Digital Commodities for real-time transaction and processing, key features crucial in upholding shariah principles for micro-financing.
